George Cecil Thompson, 82, of Camden died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1932 in Sweet Water. He was a retired logger and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Elizabeth Kemp Thompson of Camden; daughter, Grace (Sam) Oliver of Thomasville; two sons, Cecil Dean (Debbie) Thompson of Thomasville and Bobby Allen Thompson of Millers Ferry; brother, Buddy (Phoebe) Thompson of Thomasville; sister, Faye Hamilton of Montgomery; two stepsons, Ronnie (Rebecca) McKenzie and Donnie (Janice) McKenzie; stepdaughter, Hazel (Gary) Daniels; three grandchildren, Wendy Joiner, Julia (Johnny) Singleton and Katrina Thompson; four great-grandchildren and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ila Dean England Thompson; grandson, Jeremy Thompson; four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 8 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Akridge officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Vineland with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.

Active pallbearers were Ray Etheridge, Jim Thompson, Paul Thompson, Keith Thompson, Rusty Thompson and Ronnie McKenzie.
