Carl Jerald "Jerry" Edwards, 73, of Thomasville died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1940 in Evansville, Ind. He was a graduate of Linden High School’s Class of 1958. His career included United States Postal Service (mail carrier), a United Parcel Service driver and district manager. After leaving UPS, Edwards got into movie theatre business. He was the owner of The Thomasville and Marengo Theatres until 2012 and was known by many as “The Movie Man”. He loved growing vegetables and always had a large garden. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Linda G. Edwards of Thomasville; three sons, Eddie (Darlene) Edwards of Linden, Robert “Bobby” Edwards of Foley and Danny Edwards of Linden; two daughters, Leigh Ann Edwards (Pat) Ezell of Livingston and Ashley E. Edwards of Thomasville; stepson, Mancel D. (Chrissy) Louallen of Pine Hill; two stepdaughters, Angela Louallen Johnson of Thomasville and Wendy Louallen (Stephen) Phillips of Locust Grove, Ga.; two sisters, Judy Edwards and Joyce Edwards, both of Demopolis; fifteen grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Edwards; parents, Carl E. and Virginia Edwards; stepdaughter, Tina Louallen Moss and sister, Janice Edwards.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 13 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. James Morgan officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
Active pallbearers were Jessie Moss, Sr., Jessie Moss, Jr., Steven Louallen, Dustin Edwards, Walt Ezell and Pat Ezell.
