Roy LaVerne Mott, Sr., 91, of Fulton died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at William F. Green State Veterans Home. He was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Fulton. Mott was a retired teacher at Hobson State Technical College, a member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church and a World War II U. S. Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Mott of Hayden; two sons, Roy LaVerne Mott, Jr., of Thomasville and Vivian Mott of Fulton; sister, Maris Dauphin of Clifton Ferry; brother, Roger Mott of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Kate Kelley Mott; parents, Marion Mack Mott and Leila Fendley Mott and brother, Mack Mott.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 15 at Thomasville United Methodist Church with Rev. George Sedberry officiating. Interment followed at Bassett Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville directing.
Active pallbearers were Jim Bonner, Douglas Mott, Joe Lolley, Bob Chaney, Jerry Vick, Jimmy Earl Davis, Steve Calvert and Lavaughn Fendley, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were members of Mott’s Picking Parlor Group.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Thomasville United Methodist Church.
