Treadwell

Robert Lee Treadwell, Jr. was born to the union of Robert Lee and Alberta Lofton Treadwell (both deceased) on May 5, 1945. He was the first of two children born to the couple. His nephew Kurt Treadwell preceded him in death. He peacefully transitioned to rest on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at his home in Chicago, Ill. Treadwell was raised in Thomasville and attended Thomasville schools. He retired from The Georgian in Chicago. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Hope No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church. He dedicated his life to Christ and enjoyed his life to the fullest. He enjoyed living and loved talking about his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Ruth A. Treadwell of Thomasville; a host of nieces and nephews, Sanjanetta Treadwell and Monica (Vincer) Mendenhall, both of Birmingham, Rev. William (Arlandra) Treadwell and Rev. Curtis V. (Val) Treadwell, both of Thomasville; great-nieces, Mia Treadwell and Simone Treadwell, both of Woodstock, Ga., Kourtney Treadwell and Kiara Warren, both of Thomasville; great-nephew, Aaron Warren of Thomasville; devoted cousins, Annette (Billy) Baker, Ethel T. Leslie, Jimmy Thomas and Benton Thomas, Jr., all of Thomasville, Shirley (Jessie) Wright and Patricia Lofton, both of Demopolis, Roy (Betty) Lofton and Xavier Lofton, both of Tuscaloosa, Frankie T. Ruffin, Debbie Baker, Dawn Baker, Alarosa Baker, Dominic Baker, Valerie (Dr. Elvin) Harnsberry, Mario (Tavane) Baker, Dr. Kimberly Leslie (Ralph) Patton, Kerri Leslie (Jeh) Pruitt, Kris Leslie, Lemar (Katrina) Thomas, Jarvis (Kim) Wright, Jessica (Walter) Askew and Octavia Lofton, all of Birmingham, DeRon (LaKeisha) Baker of Thomasville, Ronald and Little Master Josiah Baker of Biloxi, Miss., George (Florida) Dickinson, Joseph Paul (Hazel) Dickinson, Claude and Cleveland Dickinson, all of Thomasville, Doretha (Anthony) Clarke of Chicago, Ill., Milton (Debra) Dickinson and Charles (Anita) Williams of Snellville, Ga. and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were Sunday, March 2 at Clarke Street Baptist Church in Thomasville with Rev. Curtis V. Treadwell officiating. Interment followed at New Hope No. 1 Cemetary with Law Mortuary in Dixons Mills directing.

Active pallbearers were Louis McAboy, Theodore Davis, Cleveland Dickinson, Benton Thomas, Jr., Ronald Bookers and Charles Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Alphonso Arnold, Billie Baker, Austin Burroughs, Matthew Jackson, Leslie Jackson, James Nobles, William Evans, James Thompson, David L. Young, J. C. Young, Henry Dunson, Isaac Burroughs, Andrew Fuller and Class of 1960 and friends.
