James Floyd Harper, 82 of Thomasville, died June 10, 2017 at Providence Hospital. He was born March 25, 1935 in Mt. Olive to Ivy Floyd and Mattie Lou Harper. He was a procurement manager for Scotch Lumber Company and a member of Thomasville Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Harper and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce C. Harper of Thomasville; daughter, Deborah (Eddie) Vick of Thomasville; sons, James Michael Harper of Dunwoody, Ga., Thomas Detlefsen and Timothy Detlefsen of Thomasville; four sisters, Geraldine Blakeney of Thomasville, Ruby Bline of Dunkinville, Texas, Katherine Harper of Grove Hill, and Linda Vogel of Camden; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were June 13, 2017 at Thomasville Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Bozeman, the Rev. Ty Parten and Tad Detlefsen officiating.

Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Thomasville with O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Active pallbearers were Wade Vick, Hunter Vick, Beau Detlefsen, T. J. Detlefsen, Bo Keahey, Ronnie Ross, Ray Norris and Tommy Reid.

Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Hamilton, Mike Ledkins, Bill Harrison, Benny Ray Stephens, Doug Gates, Willie Welch, Larry Newsome, Gerald Criswell, Luther Gaddy, Kirk Neal, Walter Moore, Ben Etheridge, Daryl Drinkard and Allen Powell.

Memorials may be made to Thomasville Baptist Church.
