Gladys Voncile Long, 84, of Sweet Water died Oct. 24, 2017 at Thomasville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 29, 1933 in Clarke County to Lamar Austin and Willie Mae Williams. She was a former seamstress, merchant and hospital volunteer. She was a member of Old Union Baptist Church in Sweet Water.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Charles Long Jr.; parents; 2 sons, David Darell Anderson and James Woodie Anderson; brother, Grady Williams; six sisters, Elsie Smith, Nora Newsom, Juanita Walker, Irene Vaughn, Dot Harrison, and Annell Yoder; 2 grandchildren, Derek Stoudenmier and Sarah Anderson.

She is survived by her two sons, Tommie Lamar Anderson and Clifton Craig Anderson, Sr.; daughter, Vanessa Jane Stephens; 11 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services were Oct. 26 at Old Union Baptist Church with Andy Etheredge, the Rev. Thomas Anderson, and the Rev. Mike Brening officiating.

Burial followed in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Active pallbearers were Rex Leonard, Trey Cook, Thomas Anderson, Tommy Goff, Clifford Huggins and Larry Dyess.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Old Union Baptist Church.
