Above, Mayor Sheldon Day recognized Neil Lewis as this year’s grand marshal. Lewis is a longtime supporter of youth ball and other athletics in Thomasville. At left is Gunnar Lewis who threw out the first pitch.

Thomasville’s city ball program kicked off with Youth Day Saturday and a large attendance of kids, parents and other supporters. More than 500 youth are playing this year on 48 city teams.

Below, two recently deceased supporters of local sports were recognized. At left, city rec director Matthew Sparks recognized the late Otis Goalsby with a plaque, accepted by Courtney Holt Sr. At right, the late Ben Sanders Sr. was also honored as Sparks presented Kenneth Sanders a plaque.
