The 2023 Clarke County Distinguished Young Women program will be May 14 at 6 p.m. at Thomasville Civic Center.

Oak Grove Baptist Church in the Chilton community will host homecoming service Sunday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. There will be preaching followed by lunch and singing in the afternoon featuring Glory Road. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and lawn chairs.

Pastor Rusty Parnell invites everyone to attend.

Pine Hill Mission Food Bank will host a food giveaway May 18 from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. There are no special requirements. Just drive up and open your truck.

The Clarke County Education Retirees Association will meet Thursday, May 19 at 11:45 a.m. at David’s Catfish House in Thomasville. The guest speaker will be Mr. DeWayne Smith, Sheriff.

All members are urged to attend this last meeting of the year.

The Springfield Methodist Protestant Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) will sponsor a bake sale and plant sale Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. – noon in the fellowship building.

There will be made from scratch favorites by some of the best cooks around.

There will be assorted house plants, hanging pots, and plants for your yard.

Many old-time favorites will be available.

Springfield Methodist Protestant Church is located at 3087 Sandflat Rd., Thomasville.

The proceeds from this mission project will go to the Child Advocacy Center in Grove Hill.

The historic Lower Peach Tree United Methodist Church will host annual homecoming service May 22 at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Rev. Jim DuFriend is the church pastor.

Williams Temple CME Church presents annual Women’s Day Celebration Sunday, May 22 at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Co. Pastor and Evangelist Cedella Pugh.

Chairperson is Lora Carson and church pastor is the Rev. James Campbell.

The 4th Pastor and People celebration will be Sunday, May 22 at noon at New Hope Baptist Church in honor of Pastor Anthony D. Kimbrough Sr. and First Lady Kimbrough. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Clifford Mitchell of the First Church of God of Grove Hill and Mount Vernon.

The church is located at 2338 Choctaw Corner Rd. in Thomasville. Everyone is invited to attend.

Thomasville Baptist Church will host a blood drive Tuesday, May 24 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

The church is located at 210 Wilson Ave. West, in Thomasville.

Liberty Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School May 31 – June 3 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The theme will be Spark Studios, created in Christ, designated for God’s purpose.

The bible verse for VBS will be Ephesians 2:10.

Annual Men’s Day Celebration will be Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at Miles Chapel CME Church.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Byron Hannah from St. Peter Baptist Church in Linden.

The Rev. Gloria Williams is the church pastor.

Thomasville’s annual Hometown Celebration will be June 25.

There will be many events. There will be vendors, food, fireworks, door prizes and a people’s choice award.

 The Freedom Ride parade this year will be presented by Cassie’s Smokehouse and the Iron Warrior Motorcycle Ministry.

Registration will be the at 11 a.m. day of at Cassie’s Smokehouse located at 3050 Hwy 5 in Thomasville.

Lunch will follow at 2 p.m. The pre-parade line up will meet at 5 p.m. at the shopping center downtown (where the Dollar General is located. The parade will begin at 6 p.m.

 Nuthin’ New on the Avenue on the Mike Wilson Memorial Cruise- In Car Show will be at 6 p.m. downtown. There will be sports reserved for registered entries cars displayed until after the fireworks.  Thomasville’s Smokin the Town Saturday 2022 Master of the Grill Cook- Off will be downtown. There will be $50 entry fee per category (chicken, beef and pork). There will be cash prizes awarded in each category. Tasters choice wristbands will be $5.  Truckworx will host corn hole classic downtown.

You must be 16 years or older to play. Registration fee cost is $20 per team. Those interested should register by June 17 at the Chamber office located at 138. on Wilson Ave. Rules and regulations available at registration. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place. Applications are available for the Thomasville’s Smokin’ the Town, Corn hole Classic, and the Nuthin’ New on the Avenue at the Thomasville Chamber of Commerce Office and will be posted on the chamber website thomasvillealchamber.com
