150th anniversary of Peniel Baptist Church will be June 12 from 10 a.m. until noon.

The church invites members, former members, families and friends to celebrate the founding of the church.

Former pastors will share during the program.

A covered dish meal will follow the service in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 1730 McVay Road in Jackson.

Bashi United Methodist will host homecoming

Bashi United Methodist Church will host annual homecoming service June 19 at 11 a.m.

The traditional covered dish meal will not be served following the morning worship service. Pastor Jim DuFriend will lead worship service.

Everyone is invited to attend.

All donations will be used for the upkeep of the Bashi Cemetery. Donations may be mailed to Sandra H. Mott, treasurer at 8718 Bashi Rd., Thomasville AL 36784.

Garden to Pantry Pickling workshop June 21 at 10 a.m. at the Grove Hill Methodist Church. The program is hosted by the Clarke County Extension Office.

Participants will learn more about raising peppers and okra and then learn all the steps in taking them from the garden and turning them into pickles.

This will be a hands-on workshop and recipes and techniques for making popular pickle types will be shared. There is no cost to attend the workshop, but preregistration is required.

Watermelon Festival will be hosted Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Old Marengo County High School grounds in Thomaston. There will be watermelons to eat for free and some to purchase.

The purpose of the festival is to promote the refurbishment of the Marengo County High School

Built in 1909, it will help bring an income to the small farming town of Thomaston.

Last year’s festivals paid for the termite bond. The first USDA Grant was just sent off February 26, 2022.

15×15 vendor space is only $40.

Vendors may sign up by submitting your address to Connie Willamor via text or call (251-767-7648) or email ThomastonHF@aol.com and an application will be mailed to you.

The old school is located at 21461 Range Street in Thomaston.

Thomasville Regional Medical Center Auxiliary is accepting Scholarship applications for students from Clarke and surrounding counties (Wilcox, Marengo, Washington, Monroe and Choctaw) planning to enter the healthcare field.

Applicants must have a letter of acceptance from an accredited school’s healthcare field of study program. Applications must be received by the TRMC Auxiliary Scholarship Committee no later than July 1, 2022 (no exceptions). For more information call 334-357- 0678. Applications can be picked up at Crown Health Care of Thomasville and Coastal Alabama Community College Nursing School.
