She also had six years’ experience as a physical education teacher before coming to Thomasville.

Portions of Old Highway 5 will be shut down while construction work of Dickinson Bridge near Fulton takes place, Clarke County engineer Robert English told commissioners Tuesday.

The design for the new bridge has been approved by the Federal Highway Administration and Norfolk Southern Railroad has been sent the plans for approval.

Almost 31 years after “stopping off in Thomasville on his way home”, Dr. J.C. Stanley is closing his dentistry practice and retiring.

In the meantime, he and his wife, Becky, made Thomasville home and they don’t plan to retire to the beach…. or the mountains.

In a special meeting last Thursday night, June 19, the Thomasville City Council voted to purchase 103.25 acres of land adjacent to the high school property off Gates Drive.

The property is being purchased from Grove Hill businessman Willie Welch at $4,200 per acre.

In addition to the 103 acres purchased, Council members bought an option to purchase an additional 80 acres and another option on Highway 43 access.
