THS soccer team earns first win of the season

The Thomasville High School Tigers soccer team beat area opponent Mobile Christian 6-5 March 3 at D.F. Anderson Field.

The first goal was scored by C.J. Welch with an assist from Yahia Yahya.

Welch also scored the second goal.

The third goal was scored by Coleman Anderson. It was a long shot outside the penalty box.

The fourth goal was scored by Tyler Reid with an assist by Welch.

The fifth goal was scored by Coleman Anderson. It was a long shot from far right outside the penalty box.

The sixth and game winning goal was scored by Welch, who toe poked a dropped ball from the Mobile Christian goalkeeper from a corner kick by Anderson.

Goalkeeper Micheal Garrett had 10 saves.

In addition, the soccer team lost 14-0 to St. Luke’s Feb. 28 at D.F. Anderson Field.

Joey Spiers had 4 saves, and Garrett had 5 saves.

THS will travel Thursday, March 9 to Fairhope to play area opponent Bayshore. The soccer team will host area opponent Cottage Hill Friday, March 10 at D.F. Anderson Field.

THS travels March 14 to Chatom to play Washington County and March 16 to play at Citronelle.

The Tigers will also travel March 17 to play at Mobile Christian.
